Valentine's Day is a special time of year for couples, friends, and loved ones to celebrate their affection for each other. While chocolates and flowers are a popular choice for gifts, there is a growing trend in giving unique and practical gifts that have the same decadent feeling but are longer lasting and more useful. A great example of this is soaps, candles, lotions and diffusers. Not only do they make a beautiful addition to anyone's daily routine, but they also provide a delightful sensory experience that is sure to leave a lasting impression.
Soaps and candles come in a variety of scents, colours, and shapes, making them a versatile and personalised gift option. For those who like to pamper themselves, a beautifully-scented soap can add a touch of luxury to their routine. On the other hand, candles can create a cozy and calming atmosphere in any room, perfect for a romantic evening at home.
Another great thing about giving soap and candles as a gift is that they can be found at various price points. Whether you're on a budget or looking for something more luxurious, there is a soap and candle option for you. Additionally, many brands offer natural and organic ingredients, making them a great choice for those who are conscious about the products they use.
Wavertree & London soaps, candles, diffusers and body care all feature premium ingredients, most of which are found naturally, with generous amounts of shea butter and a triple-milling process to ensure the feel of the product is beautiful and scents last even longer.
When it comes to choosing a scent, you can choose from simple scents that are not too strong such as 'Beach', floral scents for those that love the aroma of flowers, fruity scents such as citrus, or a mix of all.
Or you can try Wavertree & London's curated scents, such as the High Tea range with beautiful, soft aromas that share in the nostalgia of an opulent afternoon tea. Or our cocktail range which brings your favourite cocktails including Espresso Martini or Gin and Tonic to life in deliciously decadent aromas. And for the true romantics, our Noir range adds a little sensual spice to your Valentine's Day.
The best thing about Wavertree & London is most scents are available either as soaps, candles, diffusers or lotions/liquid soaps. So you can mix and match based on your loved-one's preferences.
In conclusion, soaps and candles make a thoughtful and practical gift for Valentine's Day. They offer a unique way to show your loved ones that you care, and can be customised to suit their individual preferences. Whether you opt for a relaxing candle over a romantic candlelit dinner, or a beautiful set of soaps, they are sure to make this Valentine's Day a special and memorable one.

We love that feeling of fresh, new soap. The mix of texture, lather and fragrance creates that wonderful sense of everyday luxury. Too often, that feeling only lasts for the first few uses before normal soaps become just, soap.
At Natural Resources Australia we use traditional French Milling methods to create a beautiful, luxurious, but most importantly, long-lasting soap bar. This requires a 4-step process: Batching, Refining, Cutting and Pressing.
Batching Stage
We start at the batching stage. Our master Batch Makers are responsible for mixing the finest ingredients sourced sustainably around the globe. Soap 'noodles' are weighed according to a batch sheet and dispensed into a large mixer. At this stage we concoct the magic with the addition of premium ingredients including hues, fragrances and textures.
French Milling
All of our soap bars pass through a triple-milling process, also known as French milling. This homogenises and compacts all of the ingredients into ribbons of soap that give the soap bar greater lather and a much longer life. After milling, the soap ribbons pass through the first refiner which is pushed through a mesh screen to ensure the soap is free from any impurities. The soap then passes through a vacuum chamber which extracts air out of the soap to ensure that it is free of air pockets or streaks. In the final extrusion stage, a nose cone heats the soap billet to make it more pliable and perfect for pressing. An extrusion plate dictates the shape of the billet as it is prepared for the next stage.
Cutting Stage
After milling, soap billets are cut into a shape that will fit the selected die using a Savoncut servo-driven cutter to ensure each bar is the perfect size and weight.
Pressing Stage
In this final stage, our industrial press compresses two portions of a soap die together to create the final soap bar. The pressing stage adorns the bar with ornamental designs on the exterior, but also completes the shape of the bar such that it feels perfect to touch.
All our Wavertree & London soaps go through this rigorous process from start to end, so that once it reaches your hands, you can touch, smell and feel the quality. And that feeling will last throughout its lifetime.

Wavertree & London candles are hand-poured in Australia with natural soy wax and high-quality cotton wicks. With a long-lasting 60 hours burn time and an exceptional and exquisite perfumed fragrance, our candles are an ideal addition into your interior or as a gift to someone special. Here are some simple guides to get the most out of your beautiful new candle.
It goes without saying, but just as a friendly reminder, never leave a candle unattended.
You shouldn't use water to extinguish a candle. Water could cause the hot wax to splatter, and could also smash the glass container that holds the candle. Instead, gently blow out your candle, being aware of any liquid wax that may be on the surface, or use a candle snuffer.
Ensure the wick is upright and centred prior to burning. You should always trim your wick to around 7mm before each burn.
Always burn for a minimum of 1 hour, to avoid ‘tunnelling’ and do not burn your candle for longer than 3 hours. You should also never burn a candle when there is only 10mm or less of wax left at the bottom of the candle.
Do not move a burning candle. Ensure that the wax is solid prior to moving or holding the candle jar. Never handle a hot candle.
Avoid burning your candle in a drafty area, near open windows and flammable objects.
Finally, ensure you burn your candle on a heat proof surfaces only.
These tips will ensure you stay safe, and extend the longevity of your candle.
